Edit Categories
This is where you build and edit your categories and sub-categories.
First you must understand that "categories" are like folders on your computer. They allow
you to organize your website, making it easy for online visitors to find what they are
looking for. Categories can exist within each other, this is better explained
by example.
Suppose you are a clothing store. Your categories might develop into something like this:
Mens
Shirts
Dress
Casual
Pants
Jeans
Slacks
Womans
Dresses
Blouses
Slacks
Got the basic idea? Good. It's just like the folder or directory structure on your computer.
Think about what type of products or services you want to display online. Coming up with a good
category structure in the beginning will save you a lot of time down the road.
Adding categories to "Top Level" adds categories to the very first level of your catogory structure
(ie Men's and Woman's, in the example above).
If you delete a category every category underneath it will be deleted.
To list items in a category click on the name of the category.
Add Items
An item is a product, service, artwork, whatever you are selling or displaying online.
Items are stored in categories. Blueguru PK4 allows you to actually store the same
item in as many categories as you like.
The key to making your site look professional and attractive is quality images and
well written descriptions.
Blueguru PK4 asks for two descriptions. When someone visits your site, they will first
see the "short description". If they are interested in the item, they can click on it, and
that will bring up the "long description". Of course, if you don\t feel like writing two
descriptions you can enter the same information in both boxes.
If you are shipping by weight, or by cost per product you will need to fill in those
fields.
The selection lists are for items that have different sizes, colors, prices, or other
distinguishing characteristics. If this doesn\t apply to a particular item, leave these
fields blank.
Edit Items
You can select a product to edit by name, or if you do not remember the name, you can
select a category first, which will generate a list of items in that category.
Editing an item is just like adding one, accept your old information will be retrieved
from our database. Make sure you click save to make the changes stick.
